Well, the numbers game to me is just the author saying, Look, this is hellmode. Allen is here for a reason. There is no fucking way these dudes would survive against these kinds of attacks. That is the strength of the demon king. Numbers are just too much for everyone.

Yes, two stars can kill a B-rank monster easily if he levels up and stuff, but 10 at the same time is another level; factor in that equipment as well; nobody has the same as Allen and his party; remember the brothers armor? just garbage.

It was said that normal mode was at the same time as the first invasion, hard mode was as they invaded the empire, and hell mode was as the hero was just holding these monsters at bay. This is a numbers game from day one; it is not that the monsters are powerful; it is that they are too many. That was an idea pushed by the author the moment he put out the Millions game.

The fun thing about this manga is more about the abilities and how Allen and his friends evolve. The idea of battles being the focus is insane.

Man, does anyone else remember when this series was about a guy surviving by the skin of his teeth, using his summons in clever ways to defeat a small number of powerful foes? I much preferred this when things were small scale.
Hell Mode Babyyy!!!!!!!!!!! DO you understand what's hell mode?

For real world, yes. This is a world of magic, they have magic airships and God knows what kind of logistics they can pull. Unless there are more information, just consider it a case of "magic handled logistics".

And yes, China had more. Battle of Changping, which is famous for its subsequent massacre, saw 400k Zhao POWs killed, either beheaded or buried alive. Qin launched 2 nearly continuous invasions into Chu, the first one was 200k and the second was 600k. Now, you can say 2/3 of that number were coolies to carry supplies, but the fact that they were able to launch such massive armies stands. While nowhere near a million, it showed the capability of organizing and maneuvering such forces wasn't unheard of in the Sinosphere.

Btw, huge numbers isn't a recent thing. Romance of Three Kingdoms has massive armies that completely dwarfed their real life counterparts. In Battle of Chibi, Cao Cao had realistically 2-300k at best, but in the novel, he got a whopping 800k combatants (or lost 800k in the battle, I forgot). Making numbers bigger serve 2 main purposes: To show how epic the fights are and to flex the commanders' skills as they could mobilize and command such armies with ease, which means they must be exceptionally talented.

To be honest, pre-industry European wars simply did not operate on the same level as of East Asia.

Those numbers are bullshit. They come from Sima Qian's Records of the Grand Historian, and it's the sort of historicity you see in most Ancient texts regarding the full history of a people that don't distinguish mythology and religion from objective reality. Just feeding that many people would be impossible in pre-modern China. They're as objective as the Iliad.

Speaking of commanders either KS Group just invented handicaps for that skill or they're being completely ignored now because there are now multiple summons enhanced by that skill simultaneously and they're certainly more than 50 m from Allen.

Cry and cope harder. I trust my neighbor more than some random Western country.

I remember when there were 4 million total sent to Roseheim. Now there's 4 million surrounding one point and millions more at the capital. Many more millions than what was originally stated have been thrown around for the last 10 chapters. The numbers jumped to like 16 million total deployed to this one continent. I really don't think the author understands the scale he's writing at.

No one's asking you to trust a Western source, just don't blindly believe non-Western ones. Like I said, how would they even feed an army that size? Actually you were willing to acknowledge the numbers in Romance of Three Kingdoms are fictional, so why not apply the same logic to Records of the Grand Historian?

The sheer difference in scale between China and whatever medieval Western country make your argument invalid. Learn more about their population, agriculture, infrastructure and bureaucracy, things the West could not compare since the fall of Rome until early modern.

Did the author really write about how the command skill can only be used on B-rank beasts wthin 50m and then immediately ignore that the next chapter by using it on the dragon who knows how far away:huh:
