I am not sure if I like this development. Like
I thought that MC will go on the final journey....His princess died, his horse died. IF he now start to collect OP artifacts, mounts it kinda kills the feelings.

@chucke1992 I think the authors making him a wandering folk hero. Like he'll keep writing letters to the princess even after her passing about his adventure. And soon people will read that story and raise him into a mythology figure or a folk hero. Even the way his story start sounds out of a storybook "The Knight who fights for the people and always stands by righteousness fighting against an all evil family of noblemen". Sort of like Heracles, it's different stories that connect to form the life of a Hero; in this case, its a wandering knight doing good.

I like the mirror imagery here:
An old, badass, heroic knight, wielding an ancient, badass, heroic sword. Two old souls bound together, yet again.
