i remember having to drink Asahi beer, it has really low alcohol content(i had 7 full beer-sized mugs), no wonder after-work drinkers like that beer. it feels dry to drink but it tastes better than the ones they offer in europe.

and i think beers from china also have rice lager beers similar to Asahi.

it's a cliche that some characters are such lighweight that even a drop of alcohol touching them gets them drunk, of course she could just lie about being drunk too to get into Chi Tang bed.

to be fair beers tend to be on the cheaper side of alcohol no? unless you go for like the actually expensive stuff, but even then beer is supposed to have a certain kind of taste, so it's no surprise some just don't like it at all.

Wasn't it mentioned previously that's You Yu is actually experienced with alcohol, having grown up in a farming village where giving kids rice wine is common? I think during the stay at Chi Tang's grandmother's place...

She's also had plenty of experience sleeping with Chi Tang (in the same bed, because that's all they had), so climbing into bed with her isn't quite as exciting as it might be in other stories....

This really isn't the type of story that uses those kinds of tropes - it's far too serious. Beautiful and heartwarming, yes, but serious.

To be fair, the attitude toward underage drinking (or drinking in general) in East Asia is fairly lax. They probably would receive a stern warning if getting caught the first time. Same as smoking.

Doing any kind of drugs, on the other hand...

good thing it's Budweiser, that's like just 90% water and 10% beer I remember in Vietnam, you could go get your 10 year old kid to buy you a pack of cigarettes and it'd be fine.

I don't drink alcohol (mainly because I can't taste anything BUT the alcohol), so beer's the last thing I'd drink and I agree with the first timers.
