Perhaps it can feel or sense when Susuki's condition is deteriorating and that's why it tried to nudge them along faster.

It also warned/bleated when Hadaka tried to feed Susuki water, perhaps knowing that delaying any further could be dangerous. Or as others have mentioned, feeding water could also be fatal, and that's why it tried to hurry them along.

Yet, it still showed Hadaka the way with its prints despite the animosity. Does it lack humanity? Sure. But it certainly appears to have some sense of kindness.
