Gillette 5 blades tier close shave there, edgy too. Unless he turned into a wandering spirit and see her laughing afterwards, he should've killed himself to spite her at his last moment for last laugh or giggle.

So glad this is back - anyone know why it went on hiatus? Hope to see frequent updates again.

She's going to need to churn out books to keep up with all the fines she's going to be racking up.

She might not end up having to pay it. She's just won two awards and the first in decades if ever to do so (sorry, I forgot, problem with when they go on hiatus you forget details).

The publisher might just settle, and publicise that there was another novelist who 'lost' that Hibiki ended up saving as a result... this is assuming, that they get the whole story out of her.

Tokyo Trains has sued/charged newcoming award winner Hibiki for disrupting rail service. When asked for comment Hibiki stated "Some fool thought that 10 years of trying to write warranted death, so I stopped him. Write a masterpiece first I told him".

The public would eat it up Im sure, and PR would be against the train co for the fine/lawsuit. That said... it never goes that way, why? author-san.

That seems incredibly unlikely. For one thing, I don't think it's a lawsuit, but rather a fine enforced by law (even if it's a private rail company, disrupting the running of the trains is a big fucking deal, the families of people who commit suicide by jumping in front of a train are regularly forced to pay large fines to the rail companies). Secondly, the train company has no reason to fear publicity for something like this. This is probably something that happens frequently—idiot drivers or pedestrians get in the way and make the trains use their emergency break. It doesn't matter to them who the cause of the disturbance was, the whole point is that every time the train is forced to make an unscheduled stop, passengers are forced to wait, the company is forced to publicly apologize, and all of this costs them money. Doesn't matter to them if she's a famous novelist.

Maybe the publisher would cover her fine, but I don't really see why they would. Unlike some of the other shit she's got tangled up in, this has absolutely nothing to do with the publisher. I could see them paying for damages related to her action at the award ceremony, but that's a completely different situation.

And there's also Hibiki's character to consider. I'd be shocked if she ever told another living soul why she decided to stand on the tracks. She's never going to tell anyone she saved that guy's life.

True, it's possible, but even if he does, I doubt it would have any effect on Hibiki's liability. These rail companies do not fuck around. They're willing to charge the family of recent suicides 150 million yen for stoppage and delay (though I've yet to find out if anyone ever actually pays that much or if they negotiate it downwards).

I guess the case could be made that by standing in the tracks and giving the train time to slow down, instead of allowing him to jump in the way at the last minute, she reduced the overall delay for the train. It stands to reason that escorting a whole live person from the tracks is much faster than scraping up whatever would left of that guy (I gather that the rail companies have gotten very efficient at dealing with "human accidents", but they still often have to close the tracks for an hour when this happens).

But who knows if that'd be a convincing argument to the rail company.

Well, my main point was that its not likely to happen. For any reason.

HIbiki is not the most forthcoming for 'why' she does things unless someone who knows her (her friends maybe?) know enough to pry it out of her with specific questions...

That, and the other author, might not want it to be known he was actually considering suicide by train...
