This is such a super shitty plan.

Did they forget they just want to escape? And the fact that old fatty has literally backed off allows them to do so?

There's nothing to be gained by throwing someone on a chain over a pit of boiling acid.

The better explanation is that not-a-minotaur is simply trying to get rid of Akira while he's on an adrenaline high.
