It could be as simple as he fell in love with a commoner girl, and I could see Evil Pride murdering an entire tavern's staff over it, and raising enough hell to see Leon fully disowned, disinherited, and exiled for the scandal of it all.

But...the fake smiling, for whatever reason, just makes me think it's an issue of orientation. Like he's putting on an act and playing a role for Pride in that room, but not because it's her, but because she's a woman.

There is a major event for Prince Leon that changes his life that Pride(current MC and past villainess self) wasn’t a part of. It happens during this time.

Prince Leon has a pair of younger brothers. Leon is highly regarded as being capable as a future ruler and he loves his citizens, which often gets mistaken for it being more than what it is. Most if not all of the bad rumors about him are because of his younger brothers. They want the throne. They are trying to strip him of his right to the throne.

In the game timeline:
Leon will be discovered asleep in a tavern in a scandalous situation with a commoner woman. The castle soldiers will find him there. And soon after because of that “scandal” Leon loses his rights to the throne. Leon gets engaged to game Pride. Game Pride being her evil self makes it a point to torment Leon about everything that happened. Eventually game Pride captures all the commoners involved, tells Leon they all were paid to ruin his life. She casually throws a sword at his feet and tells him he needs to execute them. Leon tries to refuse which causes game Pride to say she will destroy his kingdom instead because she “loves” him. Leon makes the unbearable choice to kill the commoners in the room. They beg for their lives but are killed one by one by Leon. Leon breaks down mentally, game Pride laughs while she watches.

Leon’s only worth left is as Pride’s fiance as her Prince consort. But even that is stripped away as he becomes nothing but a toy for game Pride. Some time passes and his younger brothers beg for him to come back to manage the kingdom in their place. The younger brothers had basically taxed the people towards starvation because these brothers wanted to keep their extremely lavish lifestyle. And it proved this brothers were incompetent as rulers. However Leon being mentally broken cannot return. Game Pride had threatened that if he left, she would invade his kingdom and destroy it. All the while reminding him that his people are starving to death. Leon stays, unable to do anything. With his brothers constantly begging him and game Pride relishing in the torment it causes him.

In the current timeline:
Pride knows about the event from her memories. She hoped her warning would keep Leon safe. However…

Leon is visited by his younger brothers. They have a toast to celebrate things. Leon falls asleep after drinking the toast. The younger brothers had paid a few castle guards to carry Leon to the castle town where they set up his downfall. The commoners there are paid to set up the scandal.

But. Leon gets saved by Pride’s group instead. The plot foiled and Pride reveals it was Leon’s younger brothers that were responsible. The commoners there had been paid, same with the castle guards that would “find” him later. Pride and Leon will return to the castle where confront his younger brothers.

It is revealed that in both the game timeline and current timeline: the brothers had spread all the bad rumors about Leon. They were trying to strip him of his rights to the throne so they could be rulers. Their final plot against Leon was to drug him, and have him caught in a “scandal” to strip him of his rights. It is also revealed that Leon is actually good with alcohol and shouldn’t have fallen asleep. Thus revealing that the alcohol had sleeping drug mixed in.

Despite the younger brothers being caught, they berate Leon. Pride has had enough as she reveals the future that will occur soon. After Leon is sent to Pride’s kingdom, the current king dies soon after. The younger brothers take over. The younger brothers being selfish brats tax the citizens heavily, the brats want to keep living their lavish lifestyle but have no talent or ability to run a kingdom. Soon the people will start starving, the brats will run to Leon for help because they can’t do anything. The brats hearing this try to claim it’s nothing but lies. However Pride reveals she saw it in her premonition. Leon’s father, the king knows about how every queen of Pride’s kingdom has this ability. He believes her and strips his youngest sons of their rights and severely punished them, and naming Leon as their Crown Prince. Now in an uneasy situation, they need to break off the engagement. Pride gives them an out by breaking the engagement from their side and offers a more formal alliance that doesn’t require marriage between royals, while also revealing she is acting as the Queen’s proxy. She opts to have a friendship with them and they accept it. Where the royals will make regular trips to each others kingdoms to showcase how close the two kingdoms are.

Unbeknownst to Pride. Leon fell in love with her. And because their engagement is broken and he’s now the only heir to the throne. He laments not being able to marry Pride. He accepts the role of being her friend. He goes out of his way whenever she is involved. Also Arthur incidentally saves the King, curing him of the illness, all because the King thanked Pride’s knights for saving Leon. Arthur realizes the King had an illness from his power activating during their handshake.

Pride’s mother knew about how evil Evil Pride was. As a mother she regrets not treating Pride with more love in the past, regrets not being there for her by keeping her distance. When she saw that Pride didn’t turn evil, she regretted so much but the fear of evil Pride appearing is still there. So to her, she’d at least hoped to have found her a happy marriage partner but she feels like she still failed despite the circumstances. This later leads to several fiance candidates being chosen from a large pool of vetted bachelors for both Pride and Tiara.

Pride also is shaken up about it. And it still becomes a lingering issue. Pride during the early points believes she’ll become her evil version eventually. She got pulled into a sense of security forgetting about that because of all the good she did over the course of the LN

Evidence points to the current antagonist who had been wanting to meet Pride but hasn’t been able to. And he has been the source of problems for the almost every major incident going back all the way to the part where there was human trafficking for special power users where Pride helped stop it in order to save the two kids that Val wanted to save.

Pride eventually wakes up again. However. It is Evil Pride. She starts to undress herself in front of the guys, tells them to get out or she threatens to have them arrested for attempted rape. She does other things like her game self. Volume 10 continues with Evil Pride causing problems while all the people she saved previously are trying to stop evil Pride and figure out what happened and why she became evil so suddenly. Trying to figure out how to undo what happened to her. However the volume will not be available officially from Seven Seas until March(digital) or April(physical).
