Has this happened before? Never heard of someone picking up somebody else's manga. I'm guessing the original author gives them rights to their work.

It's pretty common especially when it's a collaboration type of adaptation between a WN/LN writer and a manga artist (unlike when it's the publisher that adapting it instead of a single artist) because if a problem appear to one of them or between them the adaptation just stops and axed (most of the time the artist can't continue because of medical reasons, second most common reason is the writer having a problem with the artist either making sub par adaptation or tampering with the story too much)

but definitely not in a bad way
and the speed up to catch up to where it was axed
tbh i prefer this way
rather than starting over
both acknowledging previous work
and dont require us readers to read the same thing again
if this is really the intention of the artist

Read it.

Not as good as the first series, but certainly not "bad," by any stretch of the imagination.

I feel like there are too many flashbacks, and I think the whole "rehabilitation of Val" is not just dumb, but honestly unnecessary; not that it isn't useful, and not that I have some kind of moral qualms against it... it just relies on the "Oh, I had poopy-times in my life, so feel bad for me" trope to allow his character massive leeway; as if he didn't commit several felonies to land himself in slavery/prison.

It just seems gross, to me.

But whatever; it's a story, and a mostly good story, at that.

The entire central theme of the overarching story is redemption. There was absolutely no way Pride wasn't going to give him a chance to redeem himself. It really has more to do with her and her PTSD from original Pride than anything else. It's given her almost too much empathy for the plight of others. Look what she did with Gilbert. It's very much in character for her.

More like they finish where they tryna left off.. and it got axed again whenever there's a new arc coming in order to proceed their chapters with different titles on it as a renewal because manga artist has replaced after the previous one got sick and decided to discontinue the previous manga artstyle which is a bummer but fortunately, they gave the new manga artist a good opportunity.

Yeah at least it's better if there is a new artist to pick up.. if the previous one cannot handle it due to personal reasons.

On the latter, second most common thing.. That would be most likely to make the manga discontinued but how much pressure involves in that situation? Would that affect the publishers and editors too?
