If you're gonna act like you're dating, what's the point of explicitly keeping it not official? They could've just gone out properly and done all these exact same things. Whenever they actually do commit to it now, there won't be any oomph, it's just gonna be like "ok, cool". So the momentum of the confession arc is just completely undermined.

The point is that Hiragi is dumb and overthinking what dating is. They're basically dating already now, but labeling the way they are because Hiragi is anxious about the expectations she has
