I know mangaka likes to redeem their "misunderstood" antagonists but for some people, the problem is entirely pathological and can not be fixed by the power of friendship. It needs to be dialed down a little in order to be passable as a proper redemption/reform. You can't portray someone this cracked then expect the readers to be on board with her redemption ignoring every life she has turned to hell along the way.
