With my very limited Japanese knowledge I'm going to guess with zero actual proof that the word she used for cheating probably has zero connotation of romantic betrayal the way it does in English. Japanese just evolved way too differently that'd it'd require some incredible coincidences for that same word overlap happening twice, unless it was relatively recently introduced via cultural exchange, and japanese has tons of their very unique own flowery bullshit terminology for romantic wording because of their "you have to not outright say it that's barbaric" mentality. The moon sure is beautiful tonight, etc.Oh my god she has a boyfriend and is cheating on him with Izumi???
She's not thinking about it because she's completely out of her field here. She never thought about romance, she still views herself as a 35 year old neet anyway.Do the FMC realize it can also go weirdly the other way; would she be fine with it if it was a teacher? Like how do you work that out. you're always going to be x yrs older...
Cheating being a synonym for infidelity is entirely an English thing. I don't think anyone in-universe would interpret what she said as "i'm banging others". Need to see the raws but チート (Chiito) exist as a loan word and it is used for mostly gaming related things. If it is indeed チート it also makes sense as she was spending most of her time gaming as a shut in during her OG life.I think "cheat" as in the word for "cheat code" was used, rather than "cheat" as in the word for "infidelity"
(I don't really know Japanese though)
it's not cheating as in cheating WITH someone, it's more like what matau said where it's like a cheat codeShe could've said it in a more normal way instead of saying she's cheating, gonna give bro the misconception that you're with other guys
