I actually cried during this chapter. I can only imagine how heartbroken and worried Koharu’s mom was, seeing her child return in tears. Wondering if having her keep going to school was a good idea. Scared that her heart would break again. And now, seeing earth surrounded by friends, having fun, getting gifts for people who care about her. Parents only want to see their child happy and right now, her parents can now see how happy she is and know everything will be okay.

It's amazing how they managed to convey so much in this chapter with so little dialogue. This also really helped to show that the problems that led to her withdrawing were present for years before the story started.
And yet, with so little, so much was said. About her mothers love, about how Koharu suffered. And just how important even a few friends can be to someone.

The magic of show don’t tell. THIS is what they mean when they say that phrase.
