Himari not pulling any punches. Just how much is she going to blast that Honoka ship? It's already sinking.

In real life, a guy would likely feel overwhelmed. There's a lot of bravado involved in being the breadwinner and looking a leader, but Himari is basically everything a guy "wants to be." But we know our guy here isn't going to care, so of course this is going to make him fall for her harder. That is, unless the author is playing us for fools. I simply doubt it.

On a final note: "I didn't realize she was super popular." Excuse me? Did he forget how every girls glomps on her at school? Why it became such a big thing that she was spotted with a guy?

If you think that spending more time with someone that treated you like garbage at the beginning than your actual crush makes sense, then you do you. I despise characters that behave badly and yet have everything go in their favour anyway.
Even now, Himarin has no guilt whatsoever about using Iemori to repair her reputation.
