I wanna put it out there--royalty have a bad habit of fucking around. Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses; usually, the unwanted kids become commoners or are traded to other nobility.

Sometimes they become scapegoats, or assassins, or sometimes... Just sometimes, rarely?

They get successfully swapped out for a doppelganger at birth. Some real "we're back writing 1300s fiction" shit, but it has happened before.

Strangest coup d'état I've ever seen.

Evil Prince kills King and Queen, hires middle-man to hire assassins to kill the Princess

Assassin #1 that looks like the Prince somewhat, kills Evil Prince by accident

Assassin #2 that looks like the Princess is hired and ends up "failing" but becomes the new Princess

Actual Princess become undead and later a maid for the assassin posing as the Princess who is engaged to marry the Assassin #1 who is posing as the Evil Prince.
