I am leaning towards the political marriage with understanding love was elsewhere and Yuzu is the child of her Mother and her Lover rather than the father. I believe there will have been an agreement to recognize Yuzu in exchange for Oonami to be recognized/live with the family. Or that is what it turned to and may originally be just to get the one day a month.
