I'm honestly starting to get annoyed with the "main girl is popular/idol" cliche
Why cant the main girl in an animanga series just be an average girl
Why do they have to have this "class idol" role every time who's looked up to and admired by everyone
So the mc can feel like he won the "lucky guy" lottery
It's honestly getting very sickening seeing it in every romance manga
Yuzu aint even the most egregious example
Her connections/personality help me buy the idea a bit more with some probably just wanting to be in her good graces
But im just tired of seeing this troupe all the time

Okay and…it’s not that bad of a secret. Btw we’re half siblings. So I see no reason except author shenanigans for blackmail to work

Yikes what a terrible chapter, cliche pile. Why is Yuzu popular, why is some rando stalking them, and who tf cares.

Now that the father is out of the picture, I would like to step up and take care of Naoomi's mother.

Blessed bikini. And here comes the standard groper and stalker. Hopefully Naoomi doesn't do the standard stupid "hide it from Yuzu and ghost her without explanation" shtick.

Couldn't stay away from the tropes for even 10 chapters, eh? Oh well, good bit of fan service, at least.

Much shorter chapter I feel.

I never really realized it, but yuzu is... Quite well developed. Also kind of interesting how their classmates are drawn more normally.

Mixing truth with lies is probably going to remain a theme of the story where the two of them need to figure out how to separate the truth from the lie.

Also one doesn't look forward to seeing their sister in a bikini. Curious what yuzu think of our guy after he became her family.

This chapter is disastrously bad, with so many tropes crammed into it. I was expecting better given the previous chapters were actually pretty rich in story, hopefully the author can turn things around.

So first he got slapped by his another mother and now he receives threats. He just cannot take a break. :dogkek:

And "I know your secret"? Lady, or whoever you are, do you know what happens to people who try to openly spill big powerful company secrets? Just ask Boeing employees, who are the happiest people in the world - especially once they are found dead in their motel room bathtubs.

Funny how the whole thread guessed its a lesbian self centered girl. It goes to show how much this insufferable has been used by the japaneese to traumatize the mass.
Pls let it be something different for once.

Who's the first person Culprit-san will kill?

(Um, before creating a mystery like this, it would be better if the author introduced the suspects, so we could--at least--guess who the culprit is. That's how detective stories work.)

Jesus, I know we gotta detour here and there. But she literally said he's a relative and shadow jacker over here is throwing a hissy fit about it. It's not like she called him her BF or anything.
She said he’s a "relative," not even a cousin (which would still be fine to marry, especially in old, powerful families). This means he’s likely from a collateral branch of her clan, which sometimes gets set up in arranged marriages.
So, that person still has a reason to get jealous.

While the cliche is a bit too repetitive it makes sense why its so used. And we see it used in shoujo manga too. It makes the relationship more special and for the characters to work hard to make it happen. Like you actually need to be a good storyteller to make a romcom story with two average people seem interesting and make it last more than 30 chapters.

Also most mangas have the mc be the underdog, its super rare to see a mc who starts at the very top. Also this status disparity introduces some drama thats not too heavy. A normal romance between 2 normal people with 2 normal lives is actually just a normal story that doesn't attract any attention.

So yeah, the fl/ml is popular/rich is a easy trope to use and is confirmed to get readers.

While I understand what you're saying and I even like a number of romcoms with this trope I still think it's a lazy troupe
There's a couple of romance manga i can think of off the top of my head that don't have the male/female lead be popular and still get traction/attention from readers
It's a popular troupe but mangaka don't have to use it
I think it's just a way for them to take the easy way out by saying someone's interesting without actually making them interesting
They just don't put in the effort to make a love interest admirable/desirable to the mc beyond superficial stuff like social status
You can also make the a male/female lead hard to get without them being fawned over by every npc in the story
Value can be perceived without a social hierarchy being involved
Even one person getting in the way of someone's relationship can cause simple drama
I ain't a writer so i can't say it's easy but isn't the goal of writing to at least improve upon pre-established troupes and creating unique characters instead of copy/pasting troupes/character traits from other series
