Yeah, I jumped on this thread to see if anybody else called it out. The women in general in this manga act little more than set pieces. There's the FMC who likes the MC out of nowhere and then goes to bat for him. She inexplicably is into him and almost gets SAd but then lies so as to not trouble him. There's nothing explored about her recovering from this attack either, she's just a plot device, not an actual character.

The other women in the manga are basically that one thief/murderer guy's girlfriend who gets coerced into having sex with a minor and the women whom the thief/murderer hit on. They're basically nothing, and the MC's mom is a non-character who leaves early on in the story to beat the reader over the head with how sad and lonely the MC's existence is.

Overall it's a niche little story about a kid who had a shit life who thinks in very black and white because there's no other way for him to take in the world. There's literally no happiness for him, and no one to tell him different, so he doesn't want for more or thinks he deserves it. Like I get all that, but I think the story ends up just being another seinen that tries to hard to be "mature" by being overly edgy. Like as soon as you see a new female character in these kinds of seinen, they will usually be naked within the volume and SAd a little after.

I initially didn’t like how the movie went but it ended up being wonderful, I’ve never been more disappointed by a manga.
