Because it's more that she takes away from the main couple and the age stuff is (mostly) just displaced annoyance. Personally, it was always clear she wouldn't be an issue with anything, so I've not been so agitated. This type of displaced anger comes up in pretty much every series that even slightly hints at drama or does anything but fluff for even a second. If the series starts with fluff, it must continue that way no matter what or whatever/whoever threatens to disrupt the status quo will be targeted and scrutinized ad nauseam. Rinse, repeat.

It always amuses me when characters drop bombs like this in stories and it's immediately obvious they are as far away from reality as possible when Koguma didn't go "...an actual grade schooler?" even in the nicest Koguma way possible. I don't really care about age gaps but kids grow so fast, so they look a lot more awkward. Even with the best possible age window given the characters in the story, a 12 year old dating a 15 year old can be a pretty stark difference.

Because there is a difference between high school and primary school. Even normie media sexualises high school students. Even if the excuse is the actor is an adult, the intent/fantasy is the same.
