@WhiteWhaleJonas I think it was around before hand, just not commonly used, like how people started to become nurses during the world war's, which some didn't even finish basic schools before hand, basically to go help the soldiers in need of aid ( hopefully this halfass makes sense, I'm kinda shit when trying to explain something lloll )

New friend, Norl Orful looks exactly like the first friend, Ted. Same eyebrows, same hairstyle, same eyes. The only difference may be height. Why would the artist do this?

The only acceptable explanation for Norl and Ted looking basically clones/twins of each others, would be if the author wrote it so, such as "Norl was the spotting image of Ted, except he was shorter.."
But they don't even address that in the manga, so I guess the artist is just being lazy and thoughtless.

To a character to be memorable, the very first thing is to make them look unique.. Norl is basically just a "copypaste" character in that sense.
