I really feel like Yamada just needs to be shelved until Shinzo can figure out some kind of an angle with him because even after all this time I really don't have any feel for what his actual character or personality is beyond being a store brand Hiroto. There's nothing at all compelling about him that makes me want to read his chapters or learn more about him, he's not really funny, he doesn't really have many facets to his personality and the attempts to give him some (like this chapter) ring hollow because he's just treading ground that other characters already are but way better than him. Like why should I care about his artist's block compared to Natsumi's where her art and the struggles associated with it are more central to her character than it is for Yamada?

I enjoy reading about every other character in the series from Hiroto to the author but Yamada really just adds nothing and I can't think of a single story he's been in that's been enhanced by his presence. All he's really done so far is bring Akari down as a character and push her into being kind of annoying. Unless that is the point where he's just kind of a nothing and yet his presence is more disruptive than anything, I don't know.

WHEEZES... ahhhh. Kids. I honestly thought this was very sweet. I like that the main characters of this have this kind of... love and appreciation for their friends. Having a baby, having new love... having harsh live problems, having dumb fights. They never envy the good, or mind the bad much. Instead they look after the people around them.

Also it might help I'm just old enough to mostly laugh at this kind of thing. These are the kinds of struggles ya have, or friends have, in college, you know? It might help I went to art school. Contests and classes and art.... it stresses people out.

hopefully he nora to sesshus yamada

have him get akari pregnant then promise to take care of her then run away leading to akari raising her child with no help, then having to rely on prostitution to make ends meet while resenting her daughter

If that's what makes her say "i'm breaking up with him" they relationship won't last. Even tho the author tried to potray it as cute.

He became Hiro-nii for another lil' kid! That's soo sweet! And I like how he prioritized being hungry above listening all this boring and casual couple problems

I thought for myself "aha! So Yamada is the type who can't draw good art when he is happy! That's a delicious nugget of info. I know this type of people, they're interesting to observe"

Man, I had flashbacks of being like Naachan to such a thing. As ridiculous as it is, that kind of thing does happen a lot; espescially for those who are not experienced in dating in general. As far as I've observed, it's because the other didn't listen or think that the other would mind, when it does really matter to them on terms of preference. At the first sign, it feels like a major hit to them because that's their partner! they should know! but really, it's just something you have to learn and remember and deal with at times.
On other news, Hiro being the older brother figure is always a good thing.

Thanks for the translation! Keep up the good work

I thought at the start of this chapter that he was going to be made out to be a bad guy, which would actually give him a distinguishing trait and give some progression to the more distinct characters. He really feels like the type of character to get discarded for the sake of advancing the main cast. I dont dislike him, but he's really got nothing going on, and I think that a chapter focusing on him is a boring chapter (very much unlike any of the other main or side characters).

Man I feel like you guys are being way way way too hard on Yamada. Having a simple character like him in a story with so many other nuanced characters sits just fine with me. It's also okay that he's defined as the good natured guy that was Akari's crush and now's her BF, like that's how he was introduced and honestly that's how Natsumi and Hiroto know him.

I feel like the main draw for him is his relationship with Akari and how it affects Natsumi, and right now they did dumb pointless college couple argument. That shit is so real tbh I found it funny and it doesn't negate that some major changes could happen in the future. What I also got from this chapter is he's lacking in self-confidence as an artist and in his first relationship, and he has an opportunity to grow in the future. Sure it's not as major of a struggle as other characters but he isn't the main focus and it still is progression. There is no reason to me to completely can him or do something hella drastic, he can afford to just be a dude.
