I think I can accept this ending. Ultimately it is about change: the characters that could change for the better got happy endings, and the characters that couldn't ended up with the bad outcomes, and that's a reasonable message in context of it all.
It would have been extra neat to see one of the good-change characters figure out the paradox of tolerance and actually kill Akiba, but it's called a paradox for a reason and there's only so much to expect from a bunch of teens.
Overall, wild manga, definitely worth a read if only for the psychological and philosophical introspection mixed with such grueling emotional beats.
