I realize now that this was the perfect build up for the main antagonist of the series. Make us actively hate and despise Akiba while giving him no backstory sympathy card during the climax of his heinous deeds. This also sets up how much of a mountain Shibuya has to climb in order to compete with Akiba's big brain plays that got the better of his rival/foil that was Adachi. Making this chapter feel like the real beginning for Shibuya as the protagonist will make the story forward very interesting to see.
