Nah. You guys just can't take quite obvious hints. Something similar was in ToniKawa. Characters fucked like rabbits, text made some hints about, but before Hata-sensei started to draw slighly lewd panels with them undressed, around half readers don't get these hints.
Imagine if this pulled a "It's a Little Late, but I've Fallen in Love with My Childhood Friend"
It ALWAYS gets boring after a couple gets together if there's no an overarching plot. I'm getting bored with The Dangers in My Heart too for the same reason.
I'll interpret that as a separate manga in the same universe, with an FL childhood friend who has no idea Usa just scored with the shark girl. (Side note, that title is being unfairly maligned. People are mad that they expected cotton candy but got drama anchovies instead.)
That's funny, because I dropped both Dangers and Komi for the same reasons. Authors need to find a way to naturally take the "will-they won't-they" tension and turn it into "Here's all the tension with new relationships." It's not like there aren't obvious obstacles to high school couples (Picking a college, getting railed by the job market, having underdeveloped teenager brains, etc.) And you just mentioned "It's a little late" which is honestly doing a lot to stay interesting but is somehow pissing people off.
"Somehow pissing people off." It's no secret why it's pissing people off. IMO it's shit writing even if it makes sense. And many agree. Nevertheless, yes, this kind of over-the-top drama does a decent job at keeping certain people engaged, like it or not. I dropped it and might binge it when it's further along to see how things shaped out. Aside from your viewpoint on that manga, though, I completely agree. Tension can be a lot of things. Some manga are carried by nothing but a subtle strand of romantic/sexual tension. Some consistently put out chapters that are comedic bangers which require no tension. Hitomi has none of this (and the art is pretty meh). I've been in the Dangers comments warning about staleness as well.

Never watched or read it but I vaguely remember seeing it discussed.dunno why but the "nothing can separate us" had made me remember a music anime when right after saying something along these lines, singer fmc gets killed by a car in the middle of anime then bassist mc replace her by another singer girl with same name... was it nana? beck? don't remember...
