Humanity, fuck yeah! (link)
Also this begs the question, how long was his travels? Presumably, embedded software would’ve tracked travel duration.
Yeah, considering the chapter hints that Earth is no more. But did they blow it up, or was he in relativistic spaceflight and hibernation for so long Earth already got swallowed up by the sun or met some other end back home?

Probably a very, very long time. If he can travel in stasis on an iondrive powered by solar collectors and radioactive diamond batteries, and also considering time dialation... I still think earth would be around... Just not as habitable as it once was. No surface life.

But hundreds of thousands of years is not out of the ball park.

Probably for the best that other humans don't appear. They may not even be "human" anymore at this point, but instead cybernetic abominations hell bent on finding a new world to conquer.

There's a game called Seedship where you play as the AI of a ship carrying hibernating colonists. Traveling between planetary systems is said to take hundreds of years, coasting between galaxies though utter emptiness - thousands of years. If you keep looking for new planets long enough, hundreds of thousands of years will have passed as the ship ages and rots away over time.

I think MC's journey wasn't nearly as long.

The lion president is being portrayed as the bad guy over the series, but I feel he'll get vindicated if they ever learn about Neanderthalensis, Denisova, Floresiensis, Heidelbergensis, and more, especially after how they explained kemo civilization of cooperation in Chapter 2...

For plot reasons It is unlikely we will get another human. But We can always headcannon. So what do you think all?
Earth got Metro'ed or Warhammere'd?

While I am certain we will one day find out what happened to the other humans, I am really hoping this is not a Planet of the Apes type of deal. Sure he thinks he is on another planet, but if his journey has taken that long, would he really be able to tell the difference?

While he was flying, Earth had invented hyperdrive of some sort. They came to this planet, terraformed it and decided to play god to see how civilization works or something. We are the Ancient Aliens.

Thinking about it, there is a chance more humans could show up. Even assuming in present time, earth is gone or uninhabitable, we dont know the conditions in which he left earth. If it was still thriving and advancements to technology continued, more expeditions could have been sent out into the stars. Even assuming such expeditions were decades or even centuries apart, improvements to space flight would result in father distances being traveled in significantly less time. Heck he may not have even been the first traveler, he could have just got there faster than those that came before.

Based on Dr. Drill's reflection on page 32, I feel like the plot is taking some inspiration from the novel Project Hail Mary (on which the film was based) :thonk:

This is exactly what I was thinking! How else would humans appear in ancient mythos? Let alone all of the parallels in development.
From hidden cameras, human scientists might be furiously studying the astronaut in the same way the kemo are, as from their perspective a living relic from a bygone forgotten age just dropped into their science experiment.

I almost feel like this would have been more interesting if they made their own fully alien species instead of just using anthropomorphized animals. It’s weird seeing them be impressed by individual traits like opposable thumbs/dexterity and complexity of voice when examples of those exist elsewhere in the animal kingdom and when they obviously have at least the same technology that we had a decade or so ago.

Like comparing this to PHM:
The whole relativity plot point and humans’ strength against radiation are far more interesting than any interaction I could see happening in this. Wier intentionally made his aliens far more and less advanced in certain areas to make the interactions between the two interesting.

But I guess comparing a jump title to hard sci-fi is a bit unfair. Is what it is.
