Everyone who was close to him in the original world has died on him. Parents, sister, relatives, the whole nine yards. He was left all by himself as a highschooler iin Japan. His whole reason for declaring himself a loner (despite obviously being untrue) was to keep from having to go through that process anymore and why the two girls he's let himself get really close to in the current world are the ones who are almost certain not to croak.
