The anime adapted an earlier chapter that focused on the same subject. The laughing song was an omake.

@Rand00m The panels are taken from the included chapters themselves. It's a cover format a good amount of manga series do (Watamote, for example).

@Ponkadelic More "not good at studying" than "dumb". Off of the top of my head, there's the chapter where she failed a test where they make the 75 joke (her name sounds like 75 in Japanese) and where the hilarious Bocchi school is introduced, there's the chapter where they have to do an independent research paper and Nako takes Bocchi to eat cake instead of studying, and when they have to do homework over vacation, Nako's usually tries to mooch off of Bocchi. Also, she sleeps in class. Everytime though, it's more about her not putting in the effort than not being capable.

EDIT: The first chapter I mentioned is chapter 23. Somebody else liked it below.
