They never actually dated each other for real as they literally just 2 chapters ago found out they loved each other back then. Also they never talked/planned anything about dating each other at all, dont really know where you got that idea from.

We are at the wrong genre. This series main protagonists are Mizuki and Hinata so even though her old high school friend seems like a right answer. That will never come to be. The mangaka can have more drama with Hinata as the main love interest..
