Was the the use of the term "Chinese Food" a mistranslation or is the foods that they ate, such as ramen, karaags and Gyoza considered to be Chinese dishes over there?
Gyoza (jiaozi) is a Chinese dish, although they are very popular in Japan. Ramen and karaage are Japanese dishes that are made in imitation of Chinese style cuisine. So it makes sense that they'd be served in a Chinese food restaurant.
