Considering this was terminated prematurely, I actually respect the author for sticking to this kind of ending. The ending could have been forcefully final with confessions and all that jazz, which could have potentially clashed with the character personalities. Although I'm not saying this in any adamant manner because Nohara and Haruki seemed pretty close at the end of the previous chapter already. But perhaps this was still more natural. They definitely did make progress, at least, so this was no null ending.
There's one thing I wonder, though: Why did Nohara ask her mom, not her dad? Haha.
