We have to use that retarded magazine plug in the US too during shotgun hunting season, can only have three shells total, one in the chamber two in the mag.

You can’t just introduce the morality concept just to through it out literally one panel later. Like what are you trying to say here? It’s okay to shoot someone as long as a little girl is saved immediately? Like atleast with usual medieval weaponry or magic or it fits the tone of the story. it takes you out of the realm of realism so you can somewhat ignore the violence.

but this guy just shot someone with a hostage up to their chest casually, proceeded to feel guilty, and then immediately stop feeling guilty just because he saw a cute little elf girl. I guess guns don’t work in light hearted fantasies if theirs such tonal inconsistency.

The writing in this chapter felt really off from previous ones. Still thicc elf san helps a bit and can’t argue with slavers getting wrecked. Thanks for the chapter!

The whole thing was to make it clear that this world has a different mentality than our own, where kidnapping and the like is not nearly as uncommon as it is today.
It shows the MC´ does still value life but is prepared to do what needs to be done, its a similar mentality to what you would have in the military.

The imagery of the flashbacks with the bear could also suggest that the MC, considers the people he is shooting at to be" beasts ".
Or that he doesn't mind taking a life if it is to save another. ( Its also how he died just a few days ago )
It is however pretty clear that he still has some issues with killing people afterwards, which shows he isn't completely disincentivized to it, unlike some other main characters.

Shooting somebody who uses a little girl as a meatshield while trying to kill you would not get you in trouble even in our world, I don´t see what the issue is here?
Killing in the defense of another is often legally justified as well.

They were, most likely at least, kidnappers... but you also have to consider that they started shooting at them as soon as they noticed the boat was there.
Granted it was with bow and arrows and they were failing miserably, but that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things as they had a crying child in chains used as a meatshield.
Any reasonable person would assume they were in the wrong here, and I don´t find it strange that a person who is told not to use guns for violence would shoot to kill if the situation required it.

The MC was struggling to resolve himself for what he had to do to save the kid, namely shoot people, and the best way he found at the time to resolve himself, was to remember the time he saved a kid from a bear. With that image in mind, he managed to resolve himself to protecting the kid from a "bear" about to kill the kid, and as soon as it was said and done, he was about to have a breakdown and start crying from the realization that he had just killed another person and not just another person, but five other people. It was his Elf Wife who saw the guilt written all across her husband's face who forced him to focus on the reason that he did it, what he just protected, and that regardless of how awful it felt to have shot and possibly killed the five people, he did the right thing and saved an innocent life that would have otherwise been most likely sold as a sex slave from an early age. Had it not been for the fact that his Elf Wife consoled him when she noticed the guilt on his face, I am absolutely sure that we would have been seeing him on the deck of the boat, being wracked by guilt and breaking down.

Your missing the point my dude. Shooting someone is shooting someone. And just wiping away all that trauma cuz u saw a cute child is dumb. I’d have no qualms with this if the series was more comedic with a dark sense of humour or more serious.

This whole situation could have easily been changed by the writer to have the elf lady shoot him with her much less deadly bow.

I see your point, and i agree to some degree if its never mentioned again.
But isne´t being distracted by cute things is a perfectly viable reason to temporarily forget about it ,no ?

Also Its a bit early to assume that he forgot all about it tho.
And with the other elves pointing their bows at him he has other things on his mind...like not getting killed.

Alright let's talk about guns, since there's no such thing as firearms law, he should go all out on his hunting rifle, if possible he should get a supressor in case of a stealth mission (i mean they're most likely going to be adventurers), Also i think getting some actual close combat firearms ,like pistol will be convenient for him, But hey i mean it's a shotgun rifle, he can just take the scope out but it might take some time. Also he should extend his rifling barrel, It will improve the exit velocity and bullet mass as well as accuracy, Perfect for hunting close and far away. Though i wish he gets an assault rifle...probably M16A4 or M19A2.

Also i love the way that they put the rule of being a soldier such as to never ever point your gun at your ally, and he's pretty good at guns. Can't blame him for getting traumatized about killing those thugs, after all he was just a hunter who's mission was to kill monsters and hostile animals.

I'm gonna bunch up you because your replies seems to be in the same context.
If you're asking if I killed someone the answer is yes, not once but many. My first kill is even the same as the MC except replace those slavers with cornered extremist, that elf child with real human kid and that boat with a hill. For me it's either that kid dies or that dude dies, nothing I can do about it. When that bullet hit the dude straight to the head and his buddies turned into swiss cheese, I didnt feel any remorse, why? because I did what needs to be done and at least I saved someone's life which gives me more relief than remorse....

@vaynefox well... shit. can't say anything to that. can't compare having tried to kill someone with having actually killed someone. I guess your experience is different from mine

@S0ulReaper he won't be able to get any of those types of guns, and he shouldn't, because 1. It's a hunting store so they won't stock those kinds of military-grade weapons (probably), 2. The shotgun will be enough for general hunting and fighting (just remove the spacer), and most importantly 3. he probably won't know how to maintain those weapons, due to him not being trained in them. Assault rifles and handguns are entirely different in maintenance from shotguns and stuff, as well as being dangerous to himself and his allies because he wouldn't know how to handle a jam, or basically any other malfunction.
