As someone that read the WN and watched the anime,... there is a lot more here than I remember. I don't know if it was: cut for the anime length, I missed the ch's cus of licensing issue from TL, or if it is just WN vs LN difference.

I specifically don't remember the laser beams and broken orb thing.

Can anyone else confirm what is/isn't WN, LN, anime in this sceen?
Everything is in the LN, I haven't read the WN myself but afaik the differences between it and the LN are very minimal so it should be in there as well. The fight in the anime is a bit different but both of these things are in there as well.

It bugs me to no end that… okay, Bezewanst, the temple head, grew up discarded as a blue priest, so he doesn't possess a wand, that adds up. But why doesn’t Bindewald, a full-fledged noble, owner of a fief at that, use his wand?

Arrogance, because, as you say, Bindewald is a higher noble than what he thinks are mana-deficient, discarded nobles commonly found in the temple. So using the ring as medium should suffice
He'll use the wand next chapter

Anybody knows if Miya Kazuki ever explained in the Fanbooks why Bindelwald who is a Gibe and archnoble of a greater duchy has neither a protective charm nor a knight? The knight can be overlooked since he has many Devouring soldiers but having no charms despite his rank and status since lacking as a noble.

He's literally sneaking out of his terrority and into this one to kidnap children. The knights are required to report in with whoever is the local Commander once they arrive, doubly so here considering who the ruler of this Grand Duchy is. Bindelwald doesn't want to risk getting ratted on and getting fed to the proverbial lions.

As for the lack of a charm, most likely due to ego about his status. He believes that no one would dare attack him in the first place.

Isn't she like 6 or 7? What do you expect from her? To single-handedly down 4/5 adults who came prepared to fight and kidnap her? She still managed to deflect some spell and overload that orb
No... she is 23 + however many years has been so far in the story and she has magic.

It would probably be best not to mention any manga sites' names since there's a good chance they could be hit with a DMCA strike too.

Not only was the stuff in the novel, the whole black feystone thing was actually a payoff to a 'dark side of nobility' side focus the other adaptions skip out on. Every volume stars and ends with chapters from other character perspectives, and this one in particular starts with the high bishop (Bezewanst) schmoozing with the southeastern nobles that recently attempted that whole ambush thing during spring prayer.

TL;DR lots of important people are very unhappy about one of their own - that one young knight that attacked Myne - getting murked as punishment just because some commoner girl cried; Bezewant's own beef is thus exploited to access her, and to help him smuggle in the foreign noble the southeasterners have close ties with, he's gifted a (way too pricey for the likes of him) mana-absorbing black feystone to let him act beyond his ability. And since would-be nobles banished to the priesthood tend to fetishize the magic tools they're not normally allowed access to, insta-losing the thing to sheer mana overload is very much a FAFO moment for him.

(This continues to have relevance later down the line too, as the cover story used to justify Myne's position in the later parts inevitably runs up against this subgroup of nobles that're all 'uh yeah except we already know she's a pissant nobody so there's no way in hell we're letting her upend the duchy like this'. One of the cooler things about the series in its OG form, even the very minor characters like the female attendant in this chapter get fleshed out with lives of their own rather than dumped in as plot devices, they all have histories and unexplored relationships with the rest of the cast)

One the one hand; glad chief's here to make everything end well (or well, as best as possible).

On the other hand: kinda miffed we didn't get to see her go full demon mode.

I'm glad the manga adaptation follows the source material better than the anime especially the lack of sanitisation. Seeing people die helps to emphasize the danger they're in.
