Shintoism doesn't spread wide, large majority within japan. So not much of a fuss. Unlike Christianity with large influence across globe, crusades & forced conversion of conquered native people. people got beef with that. Also, japan have bad history with Christianity back in the days, rebellion stuff iirc.
