It is kind of incredible. This manga part is already being serialized for 7 years, it still only has 47 chapters and is miles away from being completed. Meanwhile part 5 hasn't even started to be published in Japan (as far as I'm aware). It feels like we won't be able to read the complete main story in manga form before the year 2040.

And the irony that the Hannelore sequel got a manga adaption almost immediately (it is weird, but I'm not complaining about that)

To be fair, nobody actually expects him to stop a stronger noble. He was scolded for failing his duty, which is to protect Rozemyne. If he was unable to deal with situation alone, he needed to immediately request reinforcement by using "rott".

Same for Shikikoza, he was executed not exactly for harming Rozemyne, but for disobeying a direct order, during a very dangerous and important mission, which resulted in re-emergence of subjugation target.

Yes, in a way, Damuel was guilty of the same crime as Shikza, which for Damuel was putting Shikza's order to stand down above Ferdinand's and Karstedt's orders to protect Myne. Without Myne asking for leniency for him, Damuel, Henrik and Juliane (Henrik's wife) would have all been executed...

True but even calling for reinforcements could be seen as him going against the orders of Shikikoza who outranked him (even if his mana level was pathetic), which could have also seen him punished to a certain extent.

No, it won't... because shikikoza's order is still far FAR outclassed by previous ferdinand's order and order of their commanding officer.

In the first place, Shikikoza doesn't have any rights to order Damuel at all. He is not his commander, or superior officer, and in the knights order they held the same rank. What makes Shikikoza "greater" is the fact that he is a mednoble, while Damuel is a laynoble. But even then - mednobles actually don't have official rights to command lower nobles, theirs rule comes from political pressure, aka "i can't order you, but if you won't do as i say, i can make your life hell!"

Going against Shikikoza would never make Damuel officially "punished". The only thing that Damuel was afraid of was a vengeance from Shikikoza himself.

While we are at it... do you remember how, in previous chapters, Angelica stands up to Ferdinand baring the blade, when he suddenly approached Rozemyne? Or how Angelica pinned Wilfried to the floor? That's how knights are supposed to act, while protecting their liege (even if temporarily).
