this scheme has Ferdinand's hand all over it. but why didnt they simply impose a new magic contract with damuel ? then again, the contract only in effect if those who are binded with the contract are within the country (e.g Ehrenfest). If damuel were taken to other country (like Ahrenbarch), under torture, he might have been forced to reveal Rozemyne's secrets.

There is a stronger contract that can enforce complete obedience from another person and their very life, but that too, was said to be exploitable. If that couldn't prevent betrayal, nothing within their knowledge and power will.

It is mentioned in the manga in chapter 1. When Rosemyne just woke up, and Ferdinand telling her about how Brigitte and Damuel situation ended, he has an inner monologue about the importance of secrecy and how "mysterious death would await Damuel, if he ever leave Rosemyne's crew".

But it was so long ago, that at this point nobody can even tell whether theirs memory is from part 3 or 4, or from manga or novel lol

I think Damuel could arguably be the luckiest person in this story so far. He has kept surviving tough shit again and again. (Myne too but shes had to work for it way too much to be luck)

I gotta say, Elvira gets more and more impressive each time she deigns to reveal her hand. Such a great role model for our gremlin...and will truly be the greatest of all time if she finds a match for best(ish) boy Damuel

Loved seeing Brigitte again, especially her reaction at the impending hunt. Hope she gets to spend some time out in the wilds in her new role. Speaking of which, there is a stray Victor that should be corrected on page 28

I was expecting her to have a child already, honestly, but I suppose Myne's books must always take priority
