It's funny that you dropped just before a chapter that tackles the main pair's relationship.

Which isn't surprising: end of volume chapters seem to be doing that sort of thing. But yeah, it's basically slice-of-life with focus on the main pair every so often. That's probably why their relationship development was so front-loaded, because the creator wanted it to focus on being slice-of-life mainly.
