a lot of them seem less like names after and doesnt match how the japanese would romanise the name so seems like a bad choice. The one one I really agree with is for Shuu going to shu since its doesnt really lose much but the other feel like their pronunciation change which isnt ideal and seems like change for the sake of change

You are fucking retards. The only right way to do romaji is with the long vowels marked like they are in hiragana. No short vowels where they don’t belong and no macaroni.

And another point from me about new romanization. I totally understand that it helps to save a letter or two during typesetting, but dropping long vowels IS WRONG. There are a lot of pairs of different names where every one of them MUST be different in pronunciation and romanization (regardless of their kanji writing, of course), for example, Toru != Tooru! Dropping u in ...you... could be permitted, since it is a known practice in Hepburn romanization for some names ("Tokyo" is being said and written as it is, but it's actually must be pronounced "Toukyou") and that way Kyouko -> Kyoko is acceptable for me, since I still grasp "yo" as long vowel here (but for example, Kyo != Kyou and a certain one of Fujibayashi twins will throw a book at you!). But Kouno -> Kono is just plain rude.

the romanisation changes are fine. official translations do this already. it literally doesn't matter since most of the time people aren't pronouncing the names right anyway. stress on the wrong syllable, pronouncing them really english... that sort of thing :y just listen to how an american pronounces Ryu versus a japanese. i know not everyone's american, but that just means there are lots of reading quirks influenced by people's native tongues that prolly don't read it like... super japanese. the long vs short vowels do matter, but it's not that huge of a deal unless you're talking to a real person who told you their name.

I'm also not a fan of the romanization changes. There are multiple good standardized systems out there for romaji, Modified Hepburn and 訓令式 being the dominant ones, 日本式 being old but still occasionally used (mostly when obsolete characters like「ゐ」show up in names; Touhou's「てゐ」 is officially "Tewi" for example), and removing long vowels is a part of none of them. The cases where they're dropped are almost exclusively in loanwords and internationalized place names where the pronunciation rarely stays the same anyway.
