Sure, he defended himself here and prevented unjust harm to himself, but where was this when the princess hit him? This is the usual spiel of "must not hit women for they can do no wrong".

I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't want an MC that just goes around beating everyone up, all I'm asking is for the characters to be consistent.
