I feel the generational gap with the studies too. By the time I was in college, it was already possible to study group voice calls and use tablets, it just wasn't as popular as it seems to be nowadays. I'll always prefer to study with books and notebooks even if they're generally less convenient.

would be convenient for pandemic/long distance or just semi-casual chatting if you're not studying the same subject but id expect some ppl doing an 'irl study group' to spend time and snack together even if they do properly study for 50% of the time lol

I imagine that too. Studying is just one of the many excuses to hang out. I just hope the places to do so aren't disappearing.
