when they mentioned an "alliance" in the series' description, i thought we'd get the usual shonen slop where they formulate a complicated plan just to hang out at the fucking family restaurant. but luckily it's just some chill meeting up and "venting." just hope that future chapters don't change anything about that.

And fmc in this one is one of the best i saw in very long time. Since Hori from Horimiya probably. And only gets better later in the story. At least in 74 chapters that were released atm.

I'm giving this 50 chapters of fluff, 20 chapters of a misunderstanding, a fakeout 2nd romantic interest which turns out to be male mc's cousin or something gimmicky, 9 chapters where female lead is jealous, 4 flashback chapters, 39 chapters where they realize that they've caught feelings for each other and they'll try to deny it which sets off a game of will they won't they, then 10 chapters of ambigous romantic fluff before they finally hook up.

That's fairly obvious. This is a romance manga.
Frankly even if one hadn't read the tags, it would be pretty evident that this is a romance.
More genre savvy would also connect the line "You and me, searching for a place to belong" with "They each become the place where the other belongs".

I don't mean to come down on you too hard. It's just that the fact that they're not going to be sticking to the "rule" is so self-evident that your comment sticks out.

It's just he has big trauma in the past that lead him having trust issue over his (new) family
And it ain't his fault when he is doing his best yet ended up as a failure
