Lesbian yandere fan side characters in "school idol x socially inapt loser" slops (which is what this is) are the norm not the exception. If she was actually interested in MC, now that would be the twist.
MCs building a harem because "they're so nice" is even more common, as is a romantic rival to spur the main heroine. In this case, however, I will concede that it's probably not either of those, since we haven't seen any prior interaction between MC and this girl.

p9 - fourth "school"?

I would assume that's supposed to be "grade" but they look way too old for that.
if you read the earlier chapters (please tell me you did), you would know that there was a "Four Schools Competition" between schools in the area, that arc introduced Mikan and was when Rei went to Hizashi's house to take care of him when he was sick

I did read all of the prior chapters. Apparently my memory isn't as good as I thought.

This is what was going through her head when she saw her lock in like that

"HOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHITHOLYSHIT"

With every fiber of my being, I despise this trope so much. It is such a cheap lazy way to add conflict in the series instead of ya know getting to the point. Most of the time they overstay their welcome and become a core part of the cast, which leave a bad taste in my mouth because they're insufferable

I don't know. Maybe she's such a crazy fan that she wants to keep him away from her idol.
She's ready to disappear that girl lmao

Doubt she's interested in him so she's either a terrorist, a wingwomen, or the usual crazy fan girl
100%, I don't think she's interested in him. It's Rei she cares about.

That would actually be a good twist.
Or she's just a massive Hiruno family fan, seeing how she is friends with both of the girls too.

Oh hell no.

So not only does the author bait us in Chapter 86, now the author wants to add a FMC love-rival??

Even if Mogawa is just trying to get close to Hiruno so she can eventually become friends with Rei, why do we need to include this bullshit drama after already dragging on the story with multiple fakeouts (such as the amusement park ending in no confession)??
You're reading too much into this. There's been literally 0 "drama" so far, the series always had taken a comedic turn with practically all situations. Stop dooming lmao

How am I reading too much into this? The author has clearly shown that they do NOT want this manga to be finished, and needs to literally add a new character on Chapter 90 that is "suppose" to compete with FMC for MC's attention (as shown in this chapter). This is after we've already been baited MULTIPLE times in regards to MC or FMC confessing to one another (the big one being the huge build-up of like 15-20 chapters for the amusement park confession scene), and nothing has happened, other than 1 flash-forward future chapter where they do end up together (Chapter 86).

It's literally dogshit writing when the story started out so promising, but then the author refuses to actually progress the story, other than "welp, no romantic progression till she is no longer an idol".

People who defend writing like this is why so many romance manga get dragged out for dozens or hundreds of chapters.
