@d318 As long as it's not a fast food joint, it's not totally uncommon. Although perhaps it also depends on one's own cooking experience. If you do some home cooking and baking, and have tried to make various things, it's far easier to appreciate the effort and skill needed to make a dish look good and professional, not just taste good. But if you have practically no experience, maybe seeing perfectly smooth chocolate frosting, perfectly straight layers, and just perfectly cleanly cut pieces of a sachertorte doesn't mean anything.
