Slowly sand, polish, or grind it down with an abrasive which is what he's doing. He was basically austistic enough and managad to chisel it down and get some of the dust from it and then used that dust to polish it down.

We already have materials harder than 10 on the mohs scale. Last I heard was 13?

But if you can get mohs 11 just from raining electric crystals, erosion is going to be a LOT scarier.
