Hello,
I got the idea that it would be useful to implement some kind of search function in the forums, particularly if you are looking for some older thread where you have read something good you want to reread but which is buried under newer threads. This could use either words present in the thread title or the OP's username, I imagine. The same could apply within threads if you know, e.g. which user's post you are specifically looking for. Of course I can see the danger that some people would misuse such a feature but the majority of users hopefuly has no malevolent motives but just would look for something specific. Such a feathure would be particularly helpful for uses who irregularly or rarely participate in the forums and what to see what has happened to a specific thread ever since the last time.
