It's good, it help the licensed manga to sell. And if i can't pay for the manga or don't want, i just have to wait until the licence run off to see the licensed scans pop off somewhere. That's how i've read the english version of Hokuto No Ken here before buying the French paper tomes, same for some lezhin stuff. It's a good compromise between reader and published's interests.

I'm not a fan of 'erasing' a bunch of work on the part of a scanlation group when a title gets licensed, but given scanlation is by legal definition copyright infringement, I understand why it happens - having a summons for a court appearance show up at your door doesn't sound like fun. Depending on the who the original publisher of a work is, being proactive about this isn't a bad idea on the part of the scanlation group.

Nonsensical. It's a mix of virtue signaling and fear of getting sued. Removing "pirate" content has never helped to increase sales and publishers don't sue individual scannies, they at worst send a scary cease and desist letter.

honestly, I feel like stopping the translation when a license comes out is completely understandable(aka not wanting to have any legal issues) but removing stuff that's already done and released prior to the licensing is a bit weird imo. That said, it's a scanlator's choice to do whatever with their stuff.

Two thoughts here. F digital distribution, and F (some) localizers.

Um, F them in the butt, or something. I don't know.
