@Grimmycoffee I can't tell if your response to ClintEastwood was sarcastic because the author has obviously taken some enormous creative liberties with the historical facts right from the get-go, not the least with Rikyu's role as a co-conspirator in the story's major political developments. If on the other hand you actually misread his statement, I think he meant more on the lines of headcanon (on account of disliking the tragic tone from here on) rather than anything to do with historical accuracy.
As for Oribe, it seems like an obvious appeasement tactic, it's
literally written all over his face that he wants fuck all to do with any of this...
