Hyoukaku no Meteoria - Ch. 1

So here's chapter 1 of "Just Glue Some Gears On It: The Manga".

Nobody else seemed to be doing it, and I wanted to try a seinen series, so here you go. Hope somebody likes it. It's... maybe not super-polished - the guy's art wobbles from seriously impressive to action scenes where people look like they're made out of plasticine and then back, and boy, does he ever like gluing gears on everything - but it's pretty fun so far, IMO, much better than a lot of higher-profile series.

I will point out three bits where my half-assed "translation" almost fell on its face; the "dead fish" joke (seriously could barely make any sense of that), the explanation for the "ghosts", and the callback to that in the final fight. The meaning should still be there, though, even with the 'joke', so hopefully it doesn't spoil things for anyone.

(Oh, and his name is probably supposed to be "Kanata Icefort", knowing my luck - going by the raws and the cover up there - but I'd really like to see some sort of official romanisation before I go quite that dumb.)

I can do more if people want (and if I didn't make any serious mistakes with this upload). I've already got Chapter 2 finished. But they're quite long, and the redraws sometimes take me a fair bit of effort, so they probably won't be that fast, if that's a problem for anyone.

Interesting setting so far, although based only off of the first chapter it feels like the setup for a shounen.

That's the effect I was hoping for - I'm a Creative Writing grad, so in theory I know how to wurds gud in English and I have some understanding of how language and translation work in general. I couldn't do anything without MTL, and I cannot properly speak or read Japanese by any stretch of the imagination, but I can read kana and a few kanji here and there, and I've got a basic sort of... "anime-tier" understanding of a bunch of simple phrases. Plus I go over stuff line by line, multiple times if necessary, and I spend a while searching for a more detailed explanation for this or that word or reference if I feel like I ought to. So thanks, I appreciate the compliment.

Anyway. As for shonen vs. seinen - I don't read an absolute truckload of manga or anything so I can't claim to be an expert, and I'm not personally too bothered by labels. Still, on the one hand, superpowers and trial by combat are definitely involved. On the other hand, while I don't know exactly what you're hoping for, I would argue Chapter 2 gets pretty "suggestive", let's just say that, and from Chapter 3 onwards the violence gets ramped up into splatter (blood and visible guts, that sort of thing).
