Surely she suffered a near-fatal wound, and not a fatal wound...?
Whether you got treated, or healed, or saved somehow, a "near-fatal" wound is one that would have killed you, but didn't; a "fatal" wound has killed you, and you are now permanently in the past tense.
I suppose that if you got resurrected, it would be a fatal wound, but the author would surely have mentioned such a thing since her legs still don't work after healing... and then they'd have to explain more...
I'm guessing it's just J->E TL mishaps
