@KTheXIII I think the justice he wants here is the shitrag who drove through a red light and damn near murdered his sister to face actual legal consequences, rather than having his mommy bail him out out of court and keeping things hush hush. Still, it's not as if it's a sure thing this would happen if it goes to court. The amount of money they were offering was probably approaching the point where it is fairly absurd to turn it down in the position he's in.
On the other hand, this rich family is only willing to offer so damn much because they realize they're in a position to get sued for even more if they can't handle this now, and the one who ran the light is possibly facing jail time to boot. The amount they're offering is like saying "We're aware that the evidence is pretty stacked against us and we don't want that to matter because we're the stereotypical rich bad guys." Since this is a work of fiction the odds of them getting completely screwed in the long run are pretty overwhelming.
Unless that thing I half-joked about in an earlier chapter's comments is actually the case. Then these rich folks in particular might not even exist to begin with. But that's another thing entirely.
