So personally I think the sad is the second contractor, hence his nightmares about the other future. I also think both are his daughters, though not sure how it coincides with the prophecy of only having one. The part I don’t get is why does the dad suddenly care? Is it cause the nightmares/flashbacks. Cause if he did care in the first timeline then it makes no sense for him to MURDER her. Maybe he was bewitched like how the magician guy bewitched his sister temporarily? Very odd all around. I just, don’t think I can understand how someone can be an absolute asshole and still have the right to care that people don’t keep running to them. I’m sure we’re probably supposed to feel sorry for him but I don’t. Also kinda miss the kuudere princess.

100% sure the dad is the contractor. He realised that whatserface is some kind of demon, pretending to be his daughter and than he had his real child killed. After the demon-child starts doing whatever it is demons do when they cause calamities, he realizes the error of his ways, seeks out the time magician and together they reverse time. But rather than saving this version of himself, he cautions his daughter against the actions that led them to this version of the world. But the spell has never been used like that before, so neither spellcaster knew that the magic would bring some of the Dad's memories with it, giving him indistinct nightmares of what he remembers as his Worst Mistake Ever.

I also agree with the others saying that the father is the contractor. As we've seen so far, it's not that he doesn't entirely care, he cares but refuses to accept it because if some sort of tradition that he can't act like a normal father is this family (I feel like there's more to know about that subject). So far he's only been neglectful towards her but otherwise provided for her accordingly (no verbal or physical abuse) of course the neglect is still incredibly wrong and irredeemable (tbh I hope thier relationship gets better in the future, not for them to have a close father-daughter relationship, it's extremely hard after everything he did, but at least anything better than this) I suspect mind manipulation magic or something similar because he acted close to the other daughter even though he cares so much about the 'tradition'. Maybe he woke up from that manipulation later (maybe seeing his daughter die, or the other one's actions, or the magician interfered) and it made him want to go back in time, but reserved the memories for her because he thought he didn't deserve a second chance, or that she deserved it more, something like that.

I also think it’s the father. But wouldn’t it be better if he kept his memories instead of her that way he’d make sure she would never go through the same thing? And she’d forget the pain of her past life (but it could resurface too at some point) ://
