Rather than Cosette actually being the Duke's daughter (which it doesn't seem like that is true based on Cosette's own words in the cell), wouldn't it make more sense if she is from a family branch? I mean, Kiera literally just read a diary about two spirit user sisters. There's a branch right there!

I think the biggest question is why the youngest awakened first and why the oldest needed physical contact with the youngest in order to awaken. That's pretty odd...

No, it means Cosette's showing off those spirits (y'know, the whole spirits aren't normally visible to anyone besides spirit users spoke of in this very chapter?) was likely 'resonance' caused by touching Keira who just awoken her power of spirits (go back to ch 5 and check the scene order)

Although the condition for doing resonance is unknown atm, but the person who brought Cosette was the ex-wife's brother so there's probably something in that background...like if the sis here eventually got married into the family that ex-wife came from and that's why they have slight Parvis blood (red hair sis, red hair ex-wife's brother..)

@BimBim85 The spirit users don't even have to be direct descendants from the previous one, I mean mc is also only just the great-niece of the current one (if I remember right, the current one is not even married or has children) so the family probably has a lot of branches from non-spirit users, but it's really strange how they're always born to the main family...

@WhimsiCat huh so even if you don't have the ability to see the spirits yourself, if you are able to see it through that persons contact, it means that they have potential to be a user and they haven't been awakened or does that only prove that she is her dad's daughter

This made me confused af. So cosette really have the power after all. And Keira also have it but for Keira's power to be activated, she had to touch Cosette? Am I right? Also why is it that younger sisters have their power activated first? Coz history is repeating itself with Keira.

@simba6 : No, it seems the resonance makes it visible to even normal people since that's how Cosette convinced the others she has awaken her power.

Unless this is a red herring and what Cosette showed was just some illusions (after all nobody questioned it)

Simple touch doesn't really explain it all. In the very first chapter, Cosette did indeed touch Keira's shoulder when she "summoned" the water spirits, but if that was resonance, then who was Cosette resonating off of? I wanna say resonance works when an awakened spirit user shares their ability with a "normal?" person, but I don't think Keira had awakened yet by that time, since it was her first time seeing it. And Cosette isn't a legit daughter of the Parvis family, so who is the one communicating with the water spirit Beatrice?

Unless Cosette actually is the daughter of Grand Duchess Rowena, then she could actually have the powers of the Saintess and Keira is a real daughter of the Grand Duke as well but not the one prophesized to become the Saintess. They said in ch 2 that all women of house Parvis are born with the powers of the Saintess, so how does that work with the dumb prophecy?

No Cosette also has the power but she is probably from a forgotten branch family.

The resonance was just Cosette showing Keira that, Keira was his real daughter.

Because they could resonate in the first place.
